ENGLISH CHALLENGES

This is a really interesting topic to write about since I always had issues with this language. Im not talking precisely about how has been to me learning it, because that actually has been easy , the thing is when comes the time to speak it... I have a trust struggle in that aspect.
Anyway, here in the university I've been doing well with blogs and stuff like that, I haven't talk much  english in classes but, as I said before, it's hard to me to participate in activities that implies talking in public, mostly about nerves. However, I love making blogs about different topics, there are days that my writing inspiration isn't the best but I always try to do my best.

Besides the talking, I also like to improve in scientific English, it would be really useful to my carrier to understand science therms. This semester in biology class the teachers show us a lot of images about membrane, the cell cycle, ADN, ARN and a lot of other stuff, but the explanation about them were written in english, when I had to study at home I had to search a lot of words on google translator. I've heard that there is a CFG about it, I'd like to take it!

I used English a lot at the begginig of this years, I worked at a cafeteria located in Costanera Center Mall, a lot of tourist go there, so I usually talked at least with one person in english every weekend. After I quit my job, I only interact with the language when I watched a movie or a serie, or maybe when I heard a new song and I start singing it a lot. So, in conclusion, I don't put it on practice a lot...

I hope one day I can declare myself as a bilingual person after all!

CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

Well, before start talking about the changes I would do to the curricular or anything else related to my career, I'll like to highlight something: When I had to decide whether to study here or in the PUC, I considered a lot of things to make my decision, like the location - San Joaquín Campus is 6 minutes away from my home... on foot!- the length, what would affect to my routine and, of course, the curricular. Fortunately I had enough PSU points for both Universities, but this is the thing: It would not matter being close to my home If I was not satisfied with the subjects, after all, I'm studying to become a quality professional, and I believed - I still do- that University of Chile has the most complete curricular for that. So, with that being said, I'll start to judge a little now...

I believe the former curricular is well organized, at least better than the one active two years ago, in that time the workload were disproportional between one semester and another. It also suits really well with the recent science advances and it has a lot of management courses, in that way you develop social conscience among science skills. But there should be more courses that implies practice. I mean, we shouldn't wait so long to treat with the true reality of being a pharmacist. In terms of length I think 5 and half years are fine, but most of the students failed courses and the time becomes longer.

To be honest, the faculty facilities are not what I expected but I’m satisfied with it. Although I wouldn't mind to see more grass along de faculty, better places to study or more thatched spaces to spend time, because when it rain it's really difficult to find a good place to be. But what has to do with technology is more than enough for me, at least for now.

With teachers I had some issues, I don't doubt of the knowledge of any of them, but the teaching ways that a few has are not the best. Maybe this faculty needs younger teachers, with more patience, that can understand better to the new generations.
Despite my criticism, I'm more than happy studying here, I convince myself everyday a little more that I made the right choice.

SUMMER HOLIDAYS

Last summer I wasn't able to travel anywhere, not even leave town for more than a day. I actually think that I went to the beach only two times on that holidays. So next summer I expect to get my revenge. Besides, after such an stressful year, I sure deserve it.
I've been saving money along with my two best friends from school. We are planing to backpacking to the south of Chile. The three of us have family in different cities all along the south, we obviously are going to camp at some point but our relative's houses will be like the rest point where we'll be able to get more supplies or something like that. If we succeed in this plan, our destiny are suppose to be the Marbel Caves in Rio Tranquilo, near Coyhaique, and of course, visit lots of touristic places along the road.

Marbel Caves
Well, that's the best scenario, but If we don't gather enough money between the three of us, we have a plan B: My mom has a contact that can offer her a cabin at half price in Pichilemu, I've been there before and they are just beautiful, I really love rustic houses, like small but cozy. They also had a perfect view to the beach and a bridge that connects the hostal to the beach, like a VIP access. Therefore, the money that we've got until today should be enough to spend at least a week there, an amazing plan for the summer anyway, maybe we could surf at punta de lobo's beach.

However, I've made really good friends here in the university, and I've been planning some smalls plans with them as well. My closest friends are four, we called ourselves  "Mojito's team", and one of us has an apartment in Papudo, one weekend there doesn't sound bad, right?

Anyway, Im really hopefull with this summer, the outcome of it will determinate how ready and peacefully I'll be for next semester!

BIG BOSS

My whole life I've been dreaming about having a pet. Since I was little everytime I went to a place where there was a cat or a puppy - I believe all dogs are puppies - I could not stop hugging them, I just never get enough of it.
La imagen puede contener: 1 persona, sonriendoAlthough my constants requests to my mom, she never agreed to have a pet because we lived in an apartment and the building was not suppose to allow pets. But with time, the administration established that people could have pets but if they barked too much or became a problem they will be fined. So then, two years ago, my mom finally adopted a cute little dark puppy who was only two months old, and in matters of minutes since we met, became my best friend. His name is Big Boss, I named him that because of a videogame called metal gear solid. In that videogame, witch by the way is AWESOMEEEEEEE, Big Boss is a bad ass soldier who obtained that name by "saving the country", his story gets more and more interesting on every game.

It hasn't been easy for us to raise Big Boss, he has troubles eating and don't get along with other dogs. He also is such a mommy's pet that he gets mad when we don't pet him or put full attention in him.
What I like the most about him is that he is really jealous with people, he is not like all dogs, you really have to earned his love and acceptation.
In conclusion, he is a misunderstood puppy who loves to cause havoc everywhere he goes, but despite all his issues, he'll love you unconditionally, and because of that I couldn't imagine my life without him. I think my days will be much boring without him, and my awakenings  will not be the same without his scratches on my face.
He causes me a lot of work, but I love him with all my heart and I wouldn't change him for any other dog.

POSTGRADUATED STUDIES

As a future scientist, I aspire to get the more knowledge that I can be able to learn, but I do not really think it's appropriate to talk about the specifications of my future studies, I'm just getting started, m not even sure if I'll change my mind at some point in my working path. However, I'll try to make the best approximation about it, at least that way I can keep my 7.0 on the blog notes (YASSSSS✰)

At the moment, and with the knowledge that my current program has given me so far, I think that the pharmacology PhD is the one that fits better with my tastes in this career. Its really interesting. Besides, it gathers research with work at clinics, I love that mix!
The subject that this postgrade program has really caught my attention was "molecular modeling and molecular drug design", it belongs to one of the three courses that the student has to choose, you can't do the three of them, you must do just one.

I would like to study this at the same university I am now, hopefully with a foreign scholarship, so I can travel at least one semester outside my country. I've heard that Germany, France and U.S.A are leaders of the pharmacology industry around the world, they should have a few PhD opportunities there, CAN YOU IMAGINE ME GETTING A PHD AT ONE OF THOSE COUNTRIES? WHAT A DREAM ♥ I'll do it in the traditional way tho, I mean, going to classes regularly and stuff like that, if it was by internet, for example, I do not think I would be comfortable about it
Well, I think that I've said too muc, who knows? maybe my tastes will change along the way

MY FUTURE JOB

My view about the future has changed several times. I've imagine myself in really diverse jobs all along my life, from a moviemaker to an astronomer. However, my current program went to another direction, and today I'm happily studying "chemistry and pharmacy", so now, any projection about my future has to do with science.

I picture myself as a great pharmacist, me and my white robe doing science stuff, like in the movies. Although I would like to be some kind of mad scientist and make explosives, analyze bacteria or make a groundbreaking scientific discovery, I don't think I'll work on an specific area of my carreer during all my life. I'm actually not sure about which one is my favourite, that's why when my classmates talk about it I preffer not to answer. I'm always open to learn new things and have new experiences, so hopefully, I'll had jobs in all the areas of pharmacy, meaning as a clinical, industrial, assistencial or a forensic pharmacist, all of them indoors obviously. Maybe teaching about it or having a small pharmacy in the south, I don’t know, as I said I’m open to everything. What I do know is that I’d rather a job that allowed me to travel all around the world, and maybe one day I move abroad  to one of the countries that I'll meet.

Someday, I'll understand all of the
 drawings above my head
In terms of salary, I don't really think that is the most important thing to considerer, of course I'd like to had enough to keep me on my feet, but I expect to get a PhD in something or any other degree that complements my career and given that, my salary should be more than enough. Well, money would not be the reason I would take all of them, I just believe that If you like what you do, you should learn as much as possible about it.
That's it, that is the more close prediction about my laboral future that I can give you. You'll read about me later in the chemistry books!!!

MY FAVOURITE MUSICIAN

Usually kids let themselves go by trends. Remember when high school musical were popular? Everyone in my class on that days were crazy about them. A few years later showed up phenomena like Justin Bieber or One Direction and all my girlfriends love them. I could bet that they only loved the propaganda about them more than their music, but in my case, I've never considered the rhythm the most important thing, or the appearence of the musicians. Nevertheless,  the music I like had a source that I met when I was like 9 years old and I think that's the reason about I pay attention on every aspect of a song. Anyway, the nature of my music tastes is due to guitar hero 3, and from that, also my favourite band: 🔺 RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS 🔻

They are an alternative rock-folk band that was iniciated at L.A in 1983. Since then, they have composed twelve albums, ones more popular than others, but all of them have something especial. Although today the members are Anthony Kiedis (singer), Michael "Flea" (bassist), Chad Smith (drummer) and Josh Klinghoffer (guitarrist), only the two first are founder members of the band, the drums and the guitar were modificated several times between 1985 and 1988 because the overdose of the other founder members. Then, in 1988 Chad Smith and John Frusciante were incorporated to the band, and John remained in the band until he preffer to go on a solo carreer in 2009, devastanding his fans, including me :'( , that's when Josh joined.
The reason I like this band is because I believe they lyrics are really deep. They are one of the most iconic bands that I've known, one of the few 80's musicians that are still active today without letting down their fans.
I case you don't know them, here you have a song.
Hope you like them! If you don't, you're craaaaaaazyyyyyy

A SCHOOL ANECDOTE

What a great thing is to remember my school days. Although I have amazing friends now in college (I actually am truly grateful to have met such a wonderful people), I've never stopped missing my routine as a high school girl.
Anyway, one of the most fun and also risk anecdote that I can remember is when my best friend copy from me on a very important english test, or at least one of the times that she did. It turns out that at my grade there was only a few people that really understood english, five exactly. I was one of those five but my dearest Coni wasn't, sadly she wasn't even close of been capable of making an introduction of herself in english. So on every test we had, she sat in front or behind me, but this one time, when we were at second grade of high school, she was changed another row for some reason, I think the teacher was doubting about her grades or something.
If she wasn't near me I could not be able to pass her my answers, BUT THEN, something happened: the tallest guy took Coni's seat in front of me. I was out of sight from the teacher's desk. Because of that, once I finished my test, I literally showed it to her across the classroom, she ended diagonaly from me so she could read everything
IT WAS NEVER SO EASY TO CHEAT ON A TEST LIKE THAT TIME! We alway remember that until today. Poor miss Claudia, I think she gave up with us at the end...

BEST CONCERT EVER

I've always thought that concerts are one of the most interesting and fun things you can do in your life. Not only you go to watch a band, but you can also meet new people. On the other hand, you might also go to a concert of a band you don't know, either for curiosity or for an invitation of a friend or person you know. In any case, going to a concert or even a music festival should be an event that you CAN'T allow to miss, unless you have an issue with crowed places.

In my case, the time that I think is when I had the best concer experience of my life was about two years ago, at Lollapalooza's festival, witch has been an entire succes here in Chile since it's arrival. At first, the tickets were really cheap, even for the two days that lasted the festival, but they became more expensive every year. However, I found out a trick you can use to go without loosing much money. It's a little risky, but worth it! So If you really want to find out how is the experience of going to a Lollapalooza, you have to buy the tickets on the "Early Bird Sale", that means you have to buy the tickets withou knowing witch artist will come, you are buying your way in there blinded, that's the more economical way. Therefore, I did that since the version in 2012 to the one in 2015 and in this last one begins my story.

In 2015, Lollapalooza was a little weaker compared to previous years, but I went anyway with my two cousins. We had the tickets for both days, and everything was fine, not much excitement than usual, just okay. BUT THEN ... I saw him, the Robert Plant's show started at 8 pm in the VTR stage, right before the main show of that day. (The final artist on each stage was considered the main show of the day).
He was the vocalist of Led Zeppelin, an English hard rock band formed in London in 1968, the members were Jimmy Page (guitarrist), John Paul Jones (bassist and keyboardist), Robert Plant (singer), and John (drummer). They are considered as "one of the progenitor of the heavy metal", even when they style was influenced by many genres.
The reason why I think this is my best concert experience is because I was able to see the show of a rock legend . Even tho it was not Led Zeppelin itself, I had Robert Plant only a few meters away, representing all the legacy that the band left,  and despite his age, I felt like in the 60's, with all kind of people around me, just sharing the moment. The atmosphere was so diverse,me and the crowd were just waving each other at the rhythm of the music. It felt magical...

WHERE I'LL TRAVEL

I've always considered myself as a dreamer. Since I was a child I made lists about the places I'd like to travel. Today I have my top 5 of places I would like to visit, but for this time, I think I'll choose Finland.

About four years ago I saw a video on facebook talking about this country, It was by mere curiosity that I did  (I kinda like knowing random facts about everything) and I decided thath one day I would travel there, not only for turism, but for staying.

Helsinki - Finland

In this video, I learned that Finland has one of the best ways of living,  so that includes being at least in the top five in matters of education, economics, politics, and health. The unemployment rate is relatively low and the variety of job offerts is mindblowing. Besides, they are almost free of bugs, HOW GREAT IS THAT? it's actually really curious, because in spit of that, the country it's more nature than city, in fact, the 2/3 of it are forest of all kind. Finland also has more  water that any other place in europe, that's why people call it "The city of the thousand lakes".

Hossa National Park

Im pretty much a winter lover, so I believe that there's no one else that enjoy the kind of winter that provide this country. The ski season can last six months sometimes, and that the city covers beautifully with snow too, but I've heard the city has many protocols for the snowy days, so ther are no much problems about it.

Laponia - Finland

Although I have given many reasons about why I love Finland, none of them it's the most relevant to me, and maybe you think this is funny, but the most important reason is this: I would love to see the aurora borealis, since I watched "Brother Bear", and Finland is the best country for seeing them.
